Dubai is the second largest of the seven emirates which make up the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi,
which is the federal capital, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah are the
other six emirates.

Climate
Dubai has a sub-tropical, arid climate, and sunny, blue-skies can be expected most of the year.
Temperatures range from a low of about 10°C to 30°C in winter and can reach as high as 48°C in summer.
Rainfall is infrequent & irregular, falling mainly in winter.
Clothing
Lightweight summer clothing can be worn for most of the year but the temperature can drop
quite sharply at night during the winter.
Language
The official language of UAE is Arabic but English is widely spoken and understood,
with both languages being commonly used in business and commerce.
Currency
The monetary unit is dirham (Dhs.). which is divided into 100 fils.
The dirham is held constant against the US dollar at a mid-rate of approx. US$1 = Dhs.3.675.
Credit Cards
American Express, Visa, Master Card etc. are generally accepted in main hotels and larger shops.
